19499 780th Avenue Albert Lea, MN 56007
The trail starts and ends in the picnic area, first traversing the maple/basswood forest of Big Island. At the northwest corner of the island, the trail exits to the mainland via a causeway. Hikers must walk on the shoulder of the road a short distance. On the mainland, follow the trail as it turns north, giving nice views of Albert Lea Lake, and continues around the east side of the White Fox Campground to the Blazing Star State Trail access. The trail follows the Blazing Star State Trail west near prairie restoration areas, then crosses the main park drive near the park office and continues west to Interstate 35. Continue south toward the Great Marsh, a large wetland where you can expect to see waterfowl, then east along the lakeshore back to the causeway.
