Hiking Club Trail Description

Begin your hike at the picnic grounds and hike south on the Mound Trail. Watch for a glimpse of the bison herd as you hike along the east fence of the bison range. Adventurous hikers can scramble up Eagle Rock (photo p. 14) for a view of the bison range to the north and the Rock River Valley to the east and south. When you reach the south end of the Mound Trail, turn left and hike east and north on the Upper Cliffline Trail, watching for rock climbers, prickly pear cacti, and prairie wildflowers. When you reach the bike trail, turn right and follow the paved trail to the Mound Creek Bridge. Cross over Mound Creek and follow the Mound Creek Trail to the west and north. The Mound Creek Trail will enter the campground from the north. Follow the campground road out of the campground and rejoin the Mound Creek Trail near the group camp. Follow the Mound Creek Trail back east until you reach the picnic grounds.
